It’s Autumn, and most parts of Europe are now facing hostile weather. But we’re in deep in south and so what we call a cold night might be perceived by most of norther folks as a cool Spring evening. That’s why you seem so many people drinking in the streets of Lisbon. Sure, the bars are often very small, but we tend to gather in large groups, letting the conversation cross the narow streets.
Bica is one of those places where the street becomes the common living room. It has a few bars - Bicaense is perhaps the best known - that serve from regular pints of beer to the exquisite new recipes of gin tonic. This is one of the largest bars of the area and it even has a room where often you can view live concerts and performances.
Outside you can see parked in the street the old tram that brings residents and tourists up and down the hill by daylight.
In the evening, Bica is the perfect transition between the busy Bairro Alto and the trendy Cais do Sodré. Come and have a pint outside.
