Tasca can be translated as tavern, but it’s not quite the same. Because a Tasca is mainly a place to drink wine or bear. For long, the word was used to describe places of bad reputation, full of drunk men and women of questionable virtues. But a tasca is also a place of good food. Few dishes, many times with a fixed day in the weekly calendar, but genuine flavors. Maçã Verde is one of those restaurants where you feel cozy and you let the cook tell you what to eat. One day it could be the cozido (pork stew), another the fried fish, or the grilled octopus. One of the most famous dishes here is the secretos de porco (black pork loins) which many say are the best in Lisbon. Try it for yourself.
