In the same spot where once stood the iconic Café Portugal, that opened in 1938, now stands an homage to the original place Portuguese people visited to taste the best national dishes, made with upmost respect for tradition. Now called the Café Portugal by My Story Hotel Rossio, the restaurant is part of a hotel.

In Café Rossio, from the soups to fresh fish and quality meats, every dish is sure to leave you begging for more. Try starting with Portuguese tapas, then savoring a perfectly cooked codfish confit with the famous smashed potatoes (‘a murro’) and sautéed winter vegetables. If you prefer meat, in Café Portugal the grilled veal steak cooked the Portuguese way or the traditional pork tenderloin with a delicate rosemary sauce are sure to fulfill you every dream.

The desserts offered are also a portrait of Portuguese tradition: from the ‘Farófias’ (egg whites and sugar puffs) to the cloud-like ‘Sericaia’ (soft cake with cinnamon) with a side of marinated Elvas’s plums.

We recommend you to make reservations, as the Café Portugal is usually very crowded.
