Founded by the couple Armando Machado, fado guitarist and singer Maria de Lourdes in 1937, Adega Machado is one of the best fado houses in Lisbon. Completely remodeled in 2012, it combines modernity with tradition. The beautiful façade, covered in painted tiles with fado figures, gives way to a house that is as much a living museum as a stage fort the best voices in town. Adega Machado is in the typical neighborhood of Bairro Alto, one of the main spots for night life in Lisbon

As in most houses of fado, you are invited to dine and try the Portuguese cuisine while listening to the melancholic tunes of fado. There is always a rich cart of wines, where you can taste the excellence of Portuguese ‘tinto’ (red), branco (white) or verde.
