In one of the most typical districts of Lisbon, in Bairro Alto, known for its history and its nightlife, there is a Fado place known for the quality of its singers, who are just as good as the food served.

With more than 50 years of existence, it was founded by Lucília do Carmo, an important name in the history of Fado. Nowadays, singers like Lenita Gentil, António Rocha, Anita Guerreiro, Ricardo Ribeiro, Fernando Silva and Paulo Ramos, can be heard singing the best tunes, full of the Portuguese emotion ‘saudade’.

In a room decorated with elements of Portuguese tradition, such as wine barrels, Portuguese guitars and hand painted plates, it is a perfect place to hear the most traditional Fado songs.

In terms of food, you can choose between the typical dishes, which include a series of codfish dishes and the Portuguese steak, or the set ‘Bairro Alto’ Menu, with fish soup, sautéed sea bass or codfish gratin and for dessert, ‘farófias’ (egg whites and sugar puffs) or Rocha pear crumble.
