An old fabrics factory gained new life in Alcântara. The place is now called LXFactory and is a favorite amongst visionaries and trend-setters.
This 23 thousand m2 industrial site was turned from an abandoned factory complex to a vibrant "creative island", where anything is possible and all walks of life are welcomed.
There is a urban pet shop next to a all-portuguese store, right in front of an organic makeup brand or a tattoo parlour. There are brazilian bikinis and pin-up dresses near a hipster barber shop and an antique store.
In one of the old buildings, you can see an old newspaper printer, that actually produced thousands of the pages of 'Correio da Manha'. Now it's a beautiful bookshop, 'Ler Devagar', with shelves full of books from the ground to the (very high) ceiling.
The old factories kept their old look, despite the fact that there is art decorating every wall.
At night, the place brights up with music and light and you can pretend to be in Twilight Zone, where every culture lives together in perfect harmony and you are at the center of culture and innovation. A must visit spot near the river for culture, lifestyle, gastronomy and shopping.
