The MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology) is the most recent museu in Lisbon. Built by the Tagus River, it was projected by the Britsh architect Amanda Levete.

The main building opened in October, with four rooms dedicated to national and international exhibits, from artists architects and contemporary thinkers, with works about global tendencies and present topics, such as the form in art (‘A Forma da Forma, with works by the architects Johnston Marklee, Nuno Brandão Costa e Office KGDVS), or the dystopian world.

On this particular topic, the spotlight is in the Oval Gallery, where the exposition Pychon Park, from French artist Dominique Gonzales-Foerster, constitutes the first part of the Utopia/Distopia installation. In this work, the public becomes part of the piece, as people are encouraged to touch and play with elements of the work, while others watch. The roles are then inverted.

It should be also noted that in the Central Tejo building there is the exhibit The World of Charles and Ray Eames, a retrospective of these English designers’ work and how they’ve impacted the 20^th century.

The MAAT was born as a project from the Portuguese energy company EDP, the biggest one in the country.
